Respect Is The Key To Stopping Bullying Behavior
Educators today are under constant pressure to improve students’ standardized test scores and to improve students’ overall academic performance. If a student’s test scores are not up to snuff or if students have academic difficulty that can’t be explained, often, a principal will find his or her way into the classroom for an observation to try to find something wrong with the teacher’s instructional methods. The question I would like to raise here is: who truly is responsible for a student’s academic performance?
Creating a Bully Free School Student Assembly
Bullying is at epidemic proportions in our country, and as educators too often we tend to look at the surface problem (which is bullying) and not spend enough time working on the root problems of disrespect and irresponsibility. Our time gets spent disciplining kids with logical consequences and not enough time is spent teaching children pro social behavior. The Creating a Bully Free School Assembly Program begins to teach students the benefits of respect, caring, kindness, and responsibility. It speaks to the heart of the students through activities and illustrations that make them truly think about their behavior. The program uses a three prong approach.

I search the internet all the time to find out what’s new in the area of bullying and discovered during one of my searches that there are now bullying games that are available to deal with this serious problem that we have in schools and in society in general today. I haven’t decided if by playing a game it will help out the target of bullying behavior or not, but what I do know is bullying is not a game and should never be viewed by anyone as problem that can be solved with some type of fun activity. The games are designed to help out the target of the bullying incident by giving the target skills to deal with the bully using the computer. What the games don’t do is take into consideration the human element. The target may develop some confidence while he/she is playing the game. But, when someone is involved in a real life bullying incident no game will help the target develop the intestinal fortitude to manage the attack.
